About Our Family

We’re just your average family that happens to love taking an epic trip once or twice a year. We thrive off detailed itineraries and love to make the most out of our time in any destination.

Out of respect for our family’s privacy, we don’t share photos of them online. However, we do share photos from our actual travels whenever possible (like the photo of the Strasbourg Cathedral on this page).

A few years ago, after taking the kids to Disney, we realized we could have literally gone to Europe for about the same cost. So even though our children, who were 8 and 5 at the time, had never even taken a domestic flight, we booked a trip to Paris, with a side trip to Rome.

And then we had to figure out how to plan it!

Planning consumed our lives.

We literally Googled so many things about Paris that Google became convinced that we were actually in France and changed all of my search results into French. (Seriously! Who knew that was even possible?!)

Since then, we’ve planned many family adventures and learned a lot along the way.

We remember how overwhelming it felt and how we had to find answers to our questions in a million different places. Preparing to Travel was created to consolidate all that we’ve learned to help you travel more confidently.

Our goal is to save you from the same headaches we experienced so that you don’t need a vacation from planning your vacation.
